in astinglenian culture, there isn't really a concept of baseline health as something all people are on all the time. there's always something wrong with you, no matter how small, and it speaks to a bit of a black-and-whiteness about astinglenian thinking. when people understand that their bodies are almost never perfect or optimal it's easier to understand that minds and souls can be sick as well so they have some level of psychiatric practice.
